Domains Explained
Domain names give you your own 'address' on the internet. They allow people to type in your address (URL) and go straight to your web page. Domain names are split into two parts: the domain name (e.g. warewelchwebhosting), and the domain extension (e.g. .co.uk).
Domain names have to be bought and registered with a domain registrant. Ware Welch Web Hosting can provide this service for you. You cannot register a domain if somebody else has already done so. Below are the domain name extensions we supply and their prices. '.uk' domains can be registered for a minimum period of 2 years.
Transferring a Domain
Transferring your domain means moving its registration from your current registrant to be registered with us.
To transfer a domain to us is FREE for '.uk' domains. Transfer of a '.com' domain is only £9.99 and includes 1 year's registration added to your domain name for free. Once you have transferred a domain your renewal will be through us.
Alternatively, if you'd rather leave your domain with your current registrant, you can still take advantage of our amazingly good value hosting by redirecting your domain to point at our DNS servers. This is a simple process and we will provide you with all the information you need. If you redirect your domain to us in this way then you just pay us for hosting your website, but note that you will still have to pay your domain registrant to renew your domain.
If you want to tranfer your domain to us, simply use your existing domain name in the registration process when you buy your hosting package, and send us an email at: support@warewelchwebhosting.co.uk telling us the domain name you want to transfer and whether you want a full transfer or a redirect and we'll guide you through the process from there.
Please note: transferring or redirecting a domain takes up to 48 hours once the transfer has been initiated.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TRANSFER '.COM','.BIZ','.NET','.INFO' OR '.ORG' DOMAIN NAMES BETWEEN REGISTRARS FOR 60 DAYS AFTER IT IS REGISTERED OR FOR 60 DAYS BEFORE IT IS DUE FOR RENEWAL. THIS IS DUE TO REGISTRANTS' RESTRICTIONS AND IS THE SAME FOR ALL HOSTING AND DOMAIN REGISTRATION COMPANIES.
